If
you are a user of the original 'podcatcher on a stick' (POAS)
prototype and you want to switch to the new 'myPodder' application, of
course you want to take the list of subscribed podcats with you.
This tutorial shows you how to import your POAS podcast list
into the myPodder program.
1. FIRST FIND YOUR OPML FILE
The podcast list is stored as a OPML file "deep" in the directories of your 'podcatcher on a stick' application.
Start at the root directory where you copied the POAS files (e.g. at the root directory of your USB-Audio device) ...
Open the directory called "podcatcher".
There you find a file called "podcastlist.opml". This is the OPML file
we are searching for. Remember how to find this file or copy it to
your desktop.
If have copied this
file to your desktop you can now delete all the POAS files from your
storage device.See list of files in the first picture to determine
which files/directories belong to the POAS application - but remeber
the "podcasts" directory contains your download podcasts and dont need
to be deleted . Then you cann install/copy the myPodder application to
your device ... download here.
2. IMPORT THE LIST TO MYPODDER
Start the myPodder application.
Select the "options" panel ...
Click "import channels" ... a "open file" dialog pops up ...
Now select the "podcastlist.opml" file from the first step and click OK.
DONE .. now the podcastchannels you had in POAS should be part of your subscription list in the myPodder application.
NOTE: No history
information is transfered between the applications. Maybe podcasts you
already downloaded are getting selected for download again. But you can
deselect old episodes very easy before downloading in the myPodder
program.
